I always thought that shopping for presents for my 3-year old boy is never a problem because I have so many things that I want to buy for him. But when I was trying to pick out a present for his coming birthday, it proved to be a lot more difficult than I thought.
In the end, I brought him along to shop for his gift instead of making it a surprise present. Even with that, it was still not easy because he didn’t seem to want to pick out anything for himself!
I had to make lots of suggestions to him, from foam swords to personalized baseball bats, from Transformer figurines to educational laptops, nothing seemed to interest him.
In the end, I think he too was tired shopping for a gift and he eventually said OK to something. I’m not really sure if he really likes it or it’s because he sensed that we won’t be going home until we got him something! Hahaha…
Anyway, I will never take shopping for gifts for granted now, even for someone who seems easy enough to shop for.
What do you do in the event you really can’t find suitable gifts? Do you go with gift vouchers, or just get the person to give you a wish list?
